Introduction to GFA
GFA, established in Pretoria in 2009, offers practical teaching workshops in most glass making techniques like bead making, kiln forming and glass blowing. GFA also focuses on local skills development towards the design and manufacturing of uniquely South African art-glass products.
Over the last decade, GFA has designed, developed and manufactured prominent commisions and thousands of products for various market areas and clients. Of these include - Wilson and Associates (for Oprah Winfrey's Learner Academy for Girls), Chef Chantel Dartnel (Internationally aclaimed chef from Restuarant Mosaic at The Orient), Bogertman + Partners (Four Ways Mall Johannesburg), Council of Churches (Commemorative presentation to Archbishop of Cape Town, Desmond Tutu), DIRCO (Department of International Relations and Cooperations: - Commemorative Plate for US Statesperson , Hilory Clinton), Toyota (SA), Tshwane University of Technology (Excellence Awards)- to name but a few.
These projects range from - one of the the largest South African public glass installations, upmarket table ware, private up-market domestic installations, corporate gift-ware - down to the small but ever popular, GFA character keyrings.
